Making the Switch!

What you need to know and the 4 easy steps to make it happen.

Thank you for choosing Sheboygan Area Credit Union!

Between exceptional member service and great competitive rates, making the switch to SACU is a great choice to set yourself up for a successful financial future!

First things first, do not close your account at your other financial institution before taking time to make sure that you have all your deposits and needed withdrawals coming from your new SACU account. We recommend waiting for a full billing cycle before closing your old account to ensure everything switches over properly for a smooth transition.

Just Follow These 4 Steps:

  1. Open your new account.

    a. Apply online or call (920) 459-5151 to set up an appointment to open your new membership account today. Only requires a $5.00 membership share!

    1. Enroll in Home (Online) Banking/Mobile Banking and e-Statements! These services make banking with SACU easy, eliminate mailing paper statements, and allow you to set up alerts to track the activity on your accounts.

  2. Switch your direct deposits, automatic payments, and other services to your new account.

    a. Make a list! As you start using your new SACU account, make a list of what you have deposited into your old account and what automatic payments you have set up. This will help you keep track of what changes need to be made.

    b. Redirect your direct deposit with your employer by using our Direct Deposit Authorization Agreement form.

    c. Redirect automatic bill payments or withdrawals which include recurring payments like utility bills, auto payments, insurance, etc.

    d. Set SACU bill pay (an option attached to the checking account) with payee information.

  3. Confirm your payments are coming out of your new SACU account!

    a. Review your transactions and billing statements to confirm that all automatic payments are coming from your new SACU account, just in case one is forgotten.

  4. Close your old account.

    a. Are all automatic payments coming out of your SACU account? Have all outstanding items cleared your old accounts? Time to close that old account!

    b. Contact your old financial institution for info on how to close the account. Some financials will let you close your accounts online, while others will need you to stop into a local branch, call, or submit a written notice.

If you have any questions about our accounts or how to switch to SACU, contact us today by calling (920) 459-5154.
